Nancy Elizabeth Garner Moseley

Nancy Elizabeth Garner Moseley, 76, of Littleton, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 4, 2019. Born on April 15, 1942 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to L.S. "Pete" and Elizabeth "Beth" Matthews Garner, she was a lifelong resident of Halifax County, NC.

Nancy was a caring lady who loved people, especially children, and found many ways to capture that passion in her professional and personal life. After graduating from Roanoke Rapids High in 1960, she continued her education at East Carolina College and earned her B.A. in Elementary Education in 1964. Later on, she extended her knowledge by earning a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction- Adult Education from NC State University in 1975. She began her education career teaching kindergarten and second grade for Roanoke Rapids City Schools. However, most of her career was with Halifax Community College where she served as an instructor helping equip adults to work with children. She retired from Halifax Community College in 1996.

Nancy enjoyed serving the community in a variety of ways. She was an active member of Rosemary United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she was recognized within the church for her efforts in service to others. Additionally, she served on the Halifax Regional Medical Center Foundation Board and the Halifax County Social Services board where she remained active until her health prohibited her participation.

Nancy was dedicated to her family and friends. She was married to Wendell Clay Moseley for 52 years and enjoyed building a happy life with him and their two daughters, Ruth (Moseley) Logsdon and her husband Jim, of Lemoore, CA, and Mary Clay (Moseley) Vick of Cary, NC. She is also survived by her brother Scott Garner and wife Allison of Matthews, NC, sister Ann (Garner) Phillips and husband Wrenn of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and sister-in-law JoAnn (Moseley) Buxton of Cary, NC. Nancy leaves behind five grandchildren to cherish her memory: Emily Clay Vick and Katherine "Katie" Grace Vick of Cary, NC, Elizabeth Claire Logsdon and Henry Clay Logsdon of Lemoore, CA, and Ethan Cameron Logsdon of Middleburg, FL. Also, she leaves to cherish her memory several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Despite being bedridden for the last three years, Nancy demonstrated her love for others in a variety of ways. She was dedicated to the care of Wendell during his declining health until his passing in November 2017. Nancy organized the preparation of meals for those who were ill or bereaved. She crocheted countless afghans with love and prayers in every stitch. Most notably was the "card ministry" she created by sending notes and cards to encourage, congratulate, or console.

The family wishes to thank all the special caregivers who helped to care for Nancy. We wish to thank Emmett Faulcon, Martha Denton, Helen Edmonds, Jess Gagnon, Joyce Garner, Carolyn Gilliam, Doretha Harris, Ida Macon, Dot Mullis, and Ruth Poulsen. Additionally, we appreciate the support and care provided by Dr. Isaac H. Miller III, Gaynelle Byrd, and Home Health and Hospice of Halifax. This help allowed Nancy's last days to be comfortable and at home.

The family suggests that instead of flowers that donations be made to Rosemary United Methodist Church, 900 Jackson Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.

A family visitation will be held at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, 731 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 7:00- 8:30 pm.
